Sonya "Black Widow" Thomas In a battle of epic proportions, Sonya Thomas, a 99 pound woman from Virginia held off the male dominated field of competitive eaters. Thomas consumed an astonishing 167 wings in 32 minutes to claim this year's prize. Long before the National Buffalo Wing Festival came around, there was the Wing Bowl. Designed as an outlet for the fine folks of Philadelphia and South Jersey while their beloved Eagles watched from the sidelines, the Wing Bowl has blossomed into the definitive test of man (and woman) versus wing. Held at the Wachovia Center, the Wing Bowl is a challenge of epic proportions. This battle of man versus wing pits the worlds greatest competitive eaters in a 30 minute wing eating competition.
